Brownie (ブラウニー, Buraunī^?) is a male hedgehog Jewelpet who represents Inspiration and Imagination.

Appearance

Brownie is a lemon yellow hedgehog with light blue spikes around his back. His Jewel Eyes are made out of brown quartzes. For his attire, he wears a purple bowtie with a brown quartz jewel attached to the middle around his neck.

When corrupted by Dian in the first series, his bowtie becomes dark green in color, and his spikes become more wilder than in his normal form.

Charm Form

Brownie's Jewel Charm has an octagon shape, colored yellow and decorated with white trims. It has a purple ribbon with a brown crest attached to the charm.

Personality

According to the official website, Brownie is depicted as a supportive type and a cheerful person at heart who supports his friends through and through. He often ends his sentences with the word "uni".

Skills

In Brownie's official setting in the franchise, he represents Inspiration. As the Jewelpet of Inspiration, Brownie's magic can increase one's wisdom to make up great ideas. He can also foster intuition and creativity. In Jewelpet, he wields the power of Imagination, which he is capable of altering people's memories.

History

In Jewelpet

Brownie is one of the Jewel Eight. In episode 44, Dian forces him to use his power to remove the memories of the scientists who could stop the asteroid's course towards Earth, which itself is caused by Alex. Rinko and the others recover both him and Alex through a Jewel Game of kick-the-can.

In Jewelpet Twinkle☆

Brownie has minor appearances with Alex in episodes 20 and 32, he has a crush on Sapphie, Garnet, and Prase.

In Jewelpet Sunshine

In this series, he and Alex are King's goons, working for him in his mob-like fruit-selling organization.

In Jewelpet Kira☆Deco!

Brownie appears in the background of episode 47 with Alex, looking at a TV store. He also attends Garnet's ball in episode 24 with Topaz.

• Brownie's jewel motif is the brown quartz, which is another name for the mineral smoky quartz. Smoky quartz is a silicon dioxide crystal; the smoky color results from free silicon, formed from the silicon dioxide by natural irradiation.
  • His secondary motif is a purple bowtie containing a brown quartz in the middle.
• Alex and Brownie are the only two members of the Jewel Eight to work together. They then appear together in the following series after the first; with a few exceptions.
• Brownie's species and spike color may be a reference to the iconic video game character Sonic the Hedgehog, the well-known mascot of the company Sega. The Jewelpet franchise in general is created both by Sanrio and Sega Toys, though this might be a coincidence.
• Depending on the seasons we can get different descriptions of Brownie power : imagination, creation and intelligence (Jewelpet season 1), inspiration and insight (Jewelpet Twinkle)
