Monica Sakura (桜 モニカ Sakura Monika?) is the eldest daughter of Akira Sakura and Marie Sakura and the older sister of Akari Sakura. She is a famous teen celebrity and student council president of Winston academy's middle school, the academy that her and Akari attends.
Appearance[]
Monika is a middle schooler with long blonde hair along with green eyes, much like her younger sister and their mother. Her height is around the 160 cm benchmark and she has a slender build. She is usually seen wearing her middle school uniform, consisting of a grey skirt, a white button up and a sage green blazer along with a red bowtie and knee high socks.
Personality[]
Monika is a kind and responsible teenager. She tries her best to be involved in Akari's life, despite the latter pushing her away. Despite her fame, she seems to feel lonely, mainly due to Akari pushing her away, and overwhelmed by her job and school responsibilities most of the time. She was made to be a more mature version of Akari. She doesn't have that typical annoying older sibling role, rather she is very caring towards Akari.

- The name Monica has many meanings depending on the different languages:
- In Greek, it means "solitary".
- In Latin, it means "to advise/ advisor, truth".
- Monica's surname Sakura means "cherry blossom" (桜).
Trivia[]
- Because of Monica's popularity, Akari Sakura developed an inferiority complex towards her, making her depressed and jealous.
- Monica is unaware about Akari's attendance in the Magic Academy in Jewel Land and even of the existence of the Jewelpets, even though both Ruby and Labra are living with Akari.
- In the OVA's ending, it was implied that she had a crush on someone.
- In the booklet "Akari-chan's diary", the crush was confirmed to be a high school student she sees on the bus. She calls him " Clarinet-san" because she always sees him holding a clarinet.
- He went after her to give her the umbrella that she forgot on the bus once because she was in a rush. The door closed as she said thanks, that was the first time they spoke
- Another time, she was stuck in the rain, seeking shelter on the outside of a music shop. Clarinet-san came out of the shop, hesitated for bit before handing her his umbrella and taking off in the rain. She couldn't follow him. She later hung the umbrella carefully to dry on the balcony and looked in a daze the rest of the evening.
- She told Akari about him while they were together in the bath.
- She shares her voice actress with Luea, as well as Ametrine and Trystine.
- Although her date of birth is unknown, the first episode mentions that her zodiac sign is Virgo.
- Her character was initially meant to be a figure skater but the idea was scratched because it proved to be too bothersome.
