Yuku (ユーク, Yūku^?) is a male beagle Jewelpet who represents Intelligence.

Appearance

Yuku is a naturally colored beagle dog with a light brown head, dark brown ears, coat and tail tip and white body and tail. His Jewel Eyes are made out of blue euclases. For his attire, he wears a blue beret on his head and a light blue bowtie around his neck.

Charm Form

Yuku's Jewel Charm is hexagon-shaped. It is decorated with blue euclases and a blue musical note in the center, along with Yuku's bowtie in the bottom. It also features a yellow base with white waves and trims for decoration.

For unknowed reasons, Yuku's toy Jewel Charm have a dark brown color base instead of the yellow one saw in the first anime. This change of color was probably choosed to match Yuku's fur color.

Personality

According to the official website, Yuku really loves to sing, and isn't afraid to show off his singing voice.

In the first series, Yuku believes magic shouldn't be relied on for everything, based on his own lack of talent at it.

Skills

As the Jewelpet of Intelligence, Yuku's magic spells can increase humans' intellect and make them much more smarter and clever. His power in the official setting can also allow humans to settle arguments in a calm way. In Jewelpet, his magic can give humans insight too.

History

Yuku is the Jewelpet partner of the Prime Minister, awoken by him, Rinko and her friends.

In Jewelpet Twinkle☆

Yuku is the partner of Gunho, a contestant at the Jewel Star Grand Prix from the same school as the Three Angels. They fight and lose against Akari and Ruby.

In Jewelpet Sunshine

In episode 26b, Yuku is a painter who meets Ruby at a group date and asks her to pretend to marry him to please his grandparents. After his grandparents tell Ruby the truth, Ruby gets angry at him for lying to them, but she encourages him to follow his dreams, and he ends up genuinely falling in love with her. In a later episode, he is seen in the human world trying to sell his artworks.

In Jewelpet Kira☆Deco!

Yuku is part of the NEET Triangle Trio in the Japanese-styled palace along with Chite and Nix, who wants to be noticed by others.

In Jewelpet Happiness

In episode 41, Yuku is searching for a girl who helped him many years ago. That girl turns out to be Taira.

In Lady Jewelpet

In episode 29, Yuku is one of the dogs used to test the Petite Ladies' skill at dog-walking. He is partnered with Charon for being the gentlest and most perceptive.

Trivia

• Yuku's jewel motif is the euclase, a beryllium aluminium hydroxide silicate which is a product of the decomposition of beryl in pegmatites.
• Yuku shares the same Japanese voice actor with Lester from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.
• In Jewelpet (season 1), Yuku refuse to use magic as he believe it's unreliable, to resolve problems he instead use science.
  • Due to that, he's one of the few Jewelpets who don't have a Jewel Flash.
  • We only brievly see his Jewel Flash in JP52 where Jewelpets team up and do group Jewel Flash.
• In Jewelpet Sunshine, Yuku's grandparents are both humans, so they are most plausibly his adoptive grandparents.
• Depending on the seasons we can get different descriptions of Yuku power : intelligence and discernement (Jewelpet season 1), intuition (Sega Toys charm)
• On the official Jewelpet Sega Toys website his gem power is describe as "Coolness : Improve your intelligence and makes you able to deal with things calmly".
